When this Store first opened in 1898 it probably only carried about 50 products. Products like flour, potatoes, dried fruits and sugar were bought in bulk so as to get the best price. Other products like eggs and butter were bought locally as often as transport would allow.

Today we stock over 5,000 lines from all over the world and we buy through The Co-operative Wholesale Services (CWS) as well as some local suppliers. All our products are quality assured and approved by CWS. The Co-operative is dedicated to supply wholesome healthy foods at reasonably prices and to trade as ethically as possible in today’s market.

Cuisine De France in-store bakery. Baked fresh daily on our premises. Baguettes, Crusty Loaves, Speciality Breads. Croissants, Pain-Au-Choc, Danish Pastries and many more deliciously fresh Breads and Cakes.

We are dedicated to fairly trade products from around the world. That’s why The Co-operative is has the largest range of FAIR TRADE products in this Village and across Britain.
Most of our Fresh Fruit and Vegetables are delivered by The Co-operative and are tested for residual pesticides. Co-operative farmers supply most of our produce from all over the world and they are devoted to the quality and growing conditions that we know they will achieve. And we always promote Fresh Fruit and Vegetables all year round with special offers!
The Co-operative again supplies most of our Fresh Meat and Poultry. You will always find British Farm Assured fresh meats at very good prices. However, we also stock FELL BRED locally reared fresh meats and Richard Woodall’s Award Winning Wabberthwaite Cumberland Sausages and Bacon.
Our range of Wines, Beers and Spirits is the best you will find in the village. We always have some very good offers on Quality Wines, Lagers, Beers and Spirits. Just ask the Manager for his recommendations on the Best Buys of the week. We are sure you’ll find something you like and hopefully come back for more.
